NEIU Awarded $4.3 Million Title V Grant

Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU), the only four-year public Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) in the Midwest, recently was awarded a Title V grant from the U.S. Department of Education in the amount of $4.3 million over five years. This grant will fund a project to improve and enhance the preparation of Hispanic and low-income students for biomedical and environmental health science careers. read more

The College of Education (COE) at Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) engages in rigorous peer review on a regular basis and values feedback that assists us in continually improving our programs. All of our programs that prepare school and community professionals are approved by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). We voluntarily seek national accreditation, and the COE is accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), an organization whose standards are based on rigorous research in our field. We submit annual program reports to ISBE, and the COE is reviewed every seven years by a well-trained team of school and university professionals from NCATE. read more

U.S. News & World Report Names Northeastern Illinois University Students Most Ethnically Diverse and with the Least Debt Upon Graduation

Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) in Chicago has been ranked number one in the Midwest for two categories in this year's rankings published in U.S. News & World Report's annual edition of "Best Colleges." For the first time, NEIU has been ranked the school with graduates who have incurred the least amount of student loan debt. Also, NEIU has again been ranked the most ethnically diverse university in the Midwest, a ranking the University has held since the magazine started listing this category in 1997. read more

Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) will celebrate the opening of its new College of Business and Management Building with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27 at the new building on the University’s main campus, 5500 N. St. Louis Ave, in Chicago.
With the help of the Illinois Capital Development Board, the building was completed and opened in August 2009, after nearly two years of renovation. read more

Four universities which house Chicago's largest elementary teacher preparation programs have received a Teacher Quality Partnership (TQP) grant from the U.S. Department of Education to create the Chicago Teacher Pipeline Partnership (CTPP) and develop a pipeline of high-quality teachers for Chicago Public Schools (CPS). The award to CTPP for its first year ($2,968,478.64) is the second largest made in the first round of TQP grants. read more

Title V grants are awarded to eligible Hispanic-Serving Institutions seeking to enhance and expand the institution’s capacity to serve Hispanic and low-income students.
