Community Outreach
One of the many strengths of NEIU-El Centro is our presence and commitment to the Latino community. NEIU-El Centro, in collaboration with K-12 schools and community organizations, serves the Latino community through outreach programs in the areas of education, health, housing and technology. ASPIRA Inc. of Illinois |
Since 1968, Aspira Inc. of Illinois ("ASPIRA") has been serving the Puerto Rican and Latino youth and community. During these years, ASPIRA has helped thousands of students enter college. Most of them succeed in their educational endeavors. They have become prosperous and productive citizens and travel through all avenues of professional life.

Casa Central |
Casa Central was founded in 1954 by a multi-denominational group of churches to provide social services to the Hispanic population. Since then, Casa Central has evolved from an organization with three employees and a $26,000 budget to an acclaimed model agency with over 500 staff members and an $11 million budget.
Casa Central is now the largest Hispanic social service agency in Chicago and arguably in country, providing programs for all ages.

Latin United Community Housing Association (LUCHA) |
The mission of Latin United Community Housing Association is to stabilize the Latino community and other residents of Humboldt Park, West Town, Hermosa, and Logan Square by developing decent, affordable housing and providing housing services. Programs offered include: first time home buyers assistance and counseling, foreclosure counseling, affordable rental apartments, CEDA weatherization program, H-RAIL – senior home repair program, EHAP - emergency home repair, energy conservation and education, and community organizing.

Victor M. Montañez

Victors’ Know Art Paintings, an original art form he developed and calls Empowerment Art" for the distinct feature of allowing viewers to display the same artwork in multiple arrangements, each arrangement depicting various protagonists, can be found in various places around the country.
