Professional Interests
My research focuses on the intersection of gender and political engagement in urban contexts. In my recently-completed dissertation, I explore the role of external (ethnicity, geography, class) and internal (gender) boundaries in local civic associations' political talk. I am currently working toward transforming selected chapters of my dissertation into article format. I also have an interest in public sociology, that is, exposing non-academic publics to sociological research and engaging them in discussions that pertain to sociological issues.
