Martha Thompson earned her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Iowa.  Dr. Thompson's research and writing focus on strategies for teaching in multi-cultural classrooms.  She is a member of the American Sociological Association, Sociologists for Women in Society, the Midwest Sociological Society, and Midwest Sociologists for Women in Society.  She also teaches women's self-defense through IMPACT and holds a second-degree black belt.
