A thermodynamics
calculator at this site allows you to calculate change in enthalpy
and free energy for many different reactions. The site is
comprehensive
and includes good sections on thermodynamics, equilibrium, and other
areas
of chemistry.
PHREEQCI:
PHREEQCI is a program for speciation, batch-reaction, one-dimensional
transport,
and inverse geochemical calculations. At this page, click on
"PhreeqcI
Version 2.11-148 (February 7, 2005) (10.3M)" to download. Keep
track of
where you save it to, so that you can find it again. Beware: if
you have a slow connection, it can
take a long time to download! When
you are done downloading, find the folder you saved it to, and then
click
on the icon to install it. Unless you tell it otherwise, it will
install to C:\Program Files\USGS\Phreeqc Interactive 2.11.
The PHREEQ
user's manual from the USGS is at this location. Warning:
It's 326 pages long!
"HYDROGEOCHEMICAL
MODELING WITH PHREEQC": A guide to using PHREEQC, by C.A.J. Appelo.
Examples of
PHREEQC applications, by C.A.J. Appelo.
Vincent Post's PHREEQC for
Windows site is here. Lots of links!
For a PowerPoint show giving some information on using PHREEQCi, click
here, and then select "solutions.ppt". This link is to the
website of Dr. Bernhard Saini-Eidukat of North Dakota State
University. Other useful materials can be found on
his website, as well. The slide show was
written by the USGS and can be uncompressed from their
site, which can be found here.
USGS Water Supply
Paper 2254: Study and Interpretation of the Chemical
Characteristics of Natural Water, by John D. Hem. Available as a .pdf
file.
GW_Chart:
Software from the USGS for creating Piper trilinear diagrams and
several
other kinds of charts.
