By the end of today's class, you should be able to do the following:

v Ground Water Modeling: Applying What You Learned

Sketch a variety of flow systems with different hydrogeologic settings.
Tell what controls flow through each system, and briefly describe a conceptual model for each. (Hint: include hydrostratigraphy, water levels, and boundaries.)
Tell how you might approach constructing a numerical model for these systems.

Reminder: Exam #2 is on Thursday. Your modeling project is due at the start of the period. Remember to e-mail me your finished model ("yourname.ggw") as an attachment by that time. Your report is due at that time too; make youself a copy so you can refer to it during the exam.

If you would be comfortable bringing your own laptop that day, please do. Be sure Graphic Groundwater is loaded and installed on your machine!

What controls flow through your study area?

Not all flow systems will be as "simple" as the one you have been working on. Sketch other hydrogeologic settings you might encounter, particularly in Illinois. Be sure to consider hydrostratigraphy and water levels as well as boundaries. What controls flow through these systems? (We'll use 16 other "WHPA" studies as examples.)

Now that you've done this once, you can do it again! Review the steps you went through in creating and evaluating a model, start to finish.
