Daily Objectives #6 (January 29, 2004) Dr. Sanders
By the end of today's class, you should be able to do the following:
New objectives
v List the factors that influence and determine the shape of a hydrograph.
v Separate a hydrograph into its two main components: runoff and baseflow. (Here's some really neat software that will do this automatically. It's rather new and its possibilities are yet to be explored. Lots of research potential here! Warning: once you click to go to the site, depending on what browser you are using, you may not be able to click "Back" to get to this Objectives page again.)
v Describe instruments used to measure precipitation, evaporation, evapotranspiration, and streamflow.
v Review for Exam #1, which will be held on Tuesday, February 3. Click here for a review page.
Loose ends
v Write in your own words a description of the meaning of Effective Uniform Depth (EUD).
v Use the dot-grid method to find a map area.
v Use a planimeter to find a map area. (Find the area of Orland Lake on the topographic map provided. Please post your measurement by writing it on the chalkboard.)
v Use the arithmetic mean method and the Thiessen method to calculate EUD of precipitation for an area.
