v Describe the basic structure of atoms.

v Define the terms proton, neutron, nucleus, electron, isotope, ion, cation, anion.

v Explain the difference between ionic & covalent bonds, & predict how the type of bond would affect hardness.

v Write a chemical formula for a compound based on the charges of its cations and anions.
