By the end of today's class, you should be able to do the following:
v Recognize the difference between metallic, submetallic, and non-metallic luster of minerals.
v Test a mineral to
determine its Mohs Hardness value, and
describe some problems to watch out for in hardness testing.
v Find the streak of a mineral, and explain why streak can be a more consistent property than color.
v Explain how to
use determinative tables in conjunction with
physical property tests to ID minerals.
