By the end of today's class, you should be able to do the following:

v Write the full names of at least four of your classmates.

 v Explain what will be required of you in this course.

v Explain the responsibilities of the various roles for group work (Coordinator, Monitor, Recorder, Checker).

v Define the terms mineral, rock, element, compound, atom, molecule, crystal, mixture, solution, saturation.

v List the eight most abundant elements in the earth’s crust.

v     Explain several ways/environments in which crystals grow.
