Dr. Daniela Truty
Daniela (Dani) Truty (Ed.D., Northern Illinois. University, DeKalb) is an Associate Professor in the Human Resource Development program.  Dr. Truty holds a doctorate in adult continuing education with emphases in human resource development and women’s studies; an M.Ad.Ed. from National-Louis University (Wheaton, IL) in Adult Continuing Education; and a B.A., magna cum laude, in French from Dominican University (River Forest, IL).  She
teaches a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses, including Communication in Human Resource Development, The Adult Learner I, and Instructional Techniques and Technology.  At Northern Illinois University, her teaching included master’s and doctoral level courses in Conference and Workshop Planning, Design, and Implementation; The Learning Organization; and Instructional Theories and Practice in Teaching Adults.  Dr. Truty’s research interests focus on the multiple aspects of learning in the workplace and on issues concerning the sociology of the workplace, such as how strategic decisions are made and reproduced, the impact of strategic decisions on all stakeholders involved, subtle diversity, and so on.  She has presented at international conferences within the United States and in Europe.  Dr. Truty’s professional background spans across multiple contexts, including profit and not-for-profit organizations, banking, hospitals, voluntary organizations, community organizations, corporate, and academia.  In her most recent corporate position, Dr. Truty was an influential member of a start-up team that successfully created and launched a corporate university for a global manufacturing firm.  She is active in multiple professional associations, including the Academy of Human Resource Development, the Chicago Chapter of the American Society of Training and Development, the Adult Education Research Conference, the Midwest Research to Practice Conference, and the Academy of Management.
