I am Earl Niewald. I grew up in parsonages in De Ridder La. and New
Haven MO. as my father was an LCMS pastor. After receiving a degree in
Forestry from Missouri U, I spent 33 years with the U.S. Forest Service.
With the Forest Service being a very mobile organization we moved several
times but spent most of my career in Missouri, Minnesota, and New Hampshire.
During this time our family had membership in LCMS, ALC, LCA and ELCA
congregations.
After retiring we moved to Springfield Mo. from New Hampshire. We are
members of Messiah Lutheran (ELCA) in Springfield. Besides serving on a
couple of committees my wife Nancy and I are AAL Lamplighter s. Besides
our church activities our main interest is travel. We have taken our RV
to 49 states and all but 2 of the Canadian Provinces and Territories since
retiring.

From: Astrid Northrup
Hello everyone,
I think this is going to be an excellent discussion group. So far, I
have been lurking, but I felt it was time to step forward and introduce
myself.
My name is Astrid Northrup. I live in Powell, Wyoming and attend Hope
Lutheran Church here. I was raised Roman Catholic, and I still prefer a
good liturgical service over anything else. I did not leave RC over any
rejection issues, but just feel that the RC church is inaccessible on
many levels. I enjoy worshipping in the Lutheran tradition, and I have
felt very welcome in this church.
I am married to David, a lax Methodist, and we have three sons - Patrick
(4), Michael (3), and Benjamin (1-1/2). I have a Master's Degree in
engineering, and I teach part-time at a two-year college and I do
engineering and computer consulting as family life permits. I am
constantly struggling to balance the needs of my family (this includes
me) and my professional life. Right now, this is a central issue for me.
I am looking forward to discussion and enlightenment(?) through this list.
Sincerely,
Astrid
