Another introduction for our List friends.
Since my E Mail address is USC Luther, you might have guessed that my
research is in Luther and my Ph.D. is from USC in Social Ethics.
I attended USC while serving as Lutheran Campus Pastor at the University of
Southern California and then left to become the founding president of
Concordia University in Irvine, CA.
Presently I direct the graduate programs at Concordia University (and I am
president no longer.)
One of the four programs in graduate school that I direct is a four year
Lutheran Seminary where the requirement is to be bi lingual and bi cultural.
I am also program director for a M.A. in Reformation theology. You may
recognize some of our regular adjunct professors in this program: Jim
Kittelson (Ohio State), George Forell (iowa), Lewis Spitz (Stanford), Lowell
Green (New York), Bob Godfrey (Pres. of Westminster), Michael Horton (CURE -
at Harvard this year), etc. etc.
Oh Yes, my real name is Chuck Manske.

Grace and peace to the list. I am, like most of you evidently, new to
the list and am glad to read the various introductions of the community
members. I am a social ethicist, on the Religion Department faculty at
Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, an institution affiliated with
the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Nice folks, and given the
growing diversity of the faculty, a good place to specialize, as I do,
in church and society issues. My good husband, John McIntyre, is a
composer/arranger who writes music for the church, educational and
film/tv markets. I selected teaching as a second career, having started
out in the insurance business, then into parish work and, after grad
school study in social ethics (U. Of Southern Calif. Trojan forever) and
a dissertation year teaching at Valparaiso U., permanent posting to TCU.
I look very much forward to the list discussions and wider acquaintance
with all of you.

interested to learn more about my church's response to the great social
issues of our time. Thanks for letting me listen to your ideas and the
discussions they stimulate.

I'm Dave Moeller, a member of Grace Lutheran Church in River Forest, IL
(an independent Lutheran congregation) where I like to consider myself an
active lay-person. My wife and partner, Sarah, teaches Kindergarten in a
Lutheran day school in Chicago. After many years as a manager and
executive responsible for information systems in the retail industry, I
joined ELCA's Churchwide Office soon after its start-up in Chicago for a
four-year assignment to organize and consolidate the merging churches'
computer systems and resources. Since then, I have worked as a consultant
and as a representative of a Lutheran fraternal organization.
Both my wife and I come from an LCMS background but we are now members of
an independent congregation. I served on Grace's Church Council during
the years of pain, turmoil and strife that culminated in the formation of
the AELC and in our congregation's withdrawal from the LCMS and move to
independent status. As did John Greven, I have seen substantial changes
in denominational organization and affiliation without ever changing
congregational membership.
