Professor Barnett studied English at The Ohio State University, receiving his Ph.D. in 1997 with an emphasis in Composition and Rhetoric. He is a member of the National Council of Teachers of English and contributes regularly to national conferences such as the Conference on College Composition and Communication. He has published Teaching Argument in the Composition Classroom, an edited collection on argumentation, and has published in journals such as academic.writing and College English. His interests include the history of rhetoric and composition, critical literacy, and computers and writing. He is involved in writing across the curriculum at NEIU and has helped to coordinate NEIU’s Learning Community Initiative.
