Welcome to the Northeastern Illinois University English Department, which serves a wide variety of constituencies on campus. Our basic composition offerings are required by virtually every student at the University; at higher levels, we serve students pursuing liberal arts English and secondary education majors, students minoring in English, and graduate students pursuing a M.A. degree in English literature or composition.

FOR PROSPECTIVE GRADUATE STUDENTS: Our admissions requirements for LITERATURE and COMPOSITION have changed, effective for fall 2007 admission and thereafter. Please see the latest program description (at the left) for information.

FOR NEW STUDENTS IN THE GRADUATE LITERATURE TRACK: Students accepted for Fall 2007 or thereafter: The Literature Core Course Requirements have changed, effective for all students accepted for Fall 2007 or later. New Literature students are required to take English 410: Literary Method and Practice in their first fall term (fall 2007). For a course description, click HERE
