Project-Wide Forums

Learning, planning, connecting and sharing were themes in project-wide forums and receptions that were an on-going part of the CLC project. These events were critical to providing shared learning experiences for all members of the CLC learning community--teachers, administrators, university faculty and students, parents and project staff.

Forums were held twice a year to present workshop sessions related to standards-based learning. Topics presented at the forums included the following:

Most forums included Book Fairs. Teachers could choose from a large selection of professional titles to take home for their own use.

In addition, during Year 2 the project gave each school an extensive collection of books to add to their existing professional libraries.

Finally, over the course of the project participants increasingly became the presenters at project-wide forums and receptions. Teachers, administrators, university students and faculty, and project staff took an active role in leading forum sessions. The last major event of the project took the form of a mini-conference in which entire Professional Development Teams shared their work, their ideas and their expertise in areas ranging from creating web pages, to organizing reading groups for teachers on diversity issues, to reading across the curriculum.

Teachers from CLC schools share strategies for school-wide change, accomplishments, and new teaching approaches at the final CLC mini-conference, November, 1997. All six schools presented their work at this event.
